Did not learned men, too, hold, till within the last twenty-five years, that a flying dragon was an impossible monster? And do we not now know that there are hundreds of them found fossil up and down the world? People call them Pterodactyles: but that is only because they are ashamed to call them flying dragons, after denying so long that flying dragons could exist. Charles Kingsley
About This Quote

The idea that there were no flying dragons has become an accepted fact in our time. However, in years past, it was not an accepted fact. People could not accept the idea that there were no flying dragons because they knew that there had to be some kind of evidence for these creatures to exist. Therefore, when someone would try to find proof that there were flying dragons, they would find fossils of something that looked like a dragon or other ancient creatures that ruled the skies long ago.

They would spend hours digging through the ground looking for clues and pieces of evidence to prove the existence of the flying dragon. However, they never found anything concrete or concrete evidence showing that these creatures actually existed.
